As of this morning Public Health has placed the Orchards home area in a confirmed outbreak for Influenza A.
If your loved one is symptomatic you have been contacted.
Treatment with the antiviral medication Tamiflu will be initiated based on the consent that was provided on admission. This medication is used to treat and prevent influenza.
The following protocols are in place
- Orchards residents are not to mingle with residents from other home areas or the Gardens, and will not attend multi-home area programs.
- Visiting: All residents may continue to receive visitors in their room, please follow any isolation signage on the door.
- Leaves of absences: Residents not in isolation may go on leaves of absences, Orchards residents must wear a mask when off the home area until they get outside. Residents in isolation may go on leaves of absences for medical or compassionate purposes. If this impacts your loved one please email me to discuss so that a plan can be put in place for this to happen safely.
At this point the spread of influenza is limited, so please pray that this outbreak remains contained and is over quickly.
